Question: How can one tell a “true convert” or if one is a product of a “true conversion”?

God’s answer:

A false convert:

“Two people went up to the temple area to pray; one was a Pharisee and the other was a tax collector. The Pharisee took up his position and spoke this prayer to himself, ‘O God, I thank you that I am not like the rest of humanity— greedy, dishonest, adulterous—or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week, and I pay tithes on my whole income.’ But the tax collector stood off at a distance and would not even raise his eyes to heaven but beat his breast and prayed, ‘O God, be merciful to me a sinner.’ I tell you, the latter went home justified, not the former; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and the one who humbles himself will be exalted.” (Luke 18:10-14)

“ I am a better Christian.”

Meaning: a false convert is like the Pharisee

A true convert:

“Amazing grace. I’ve seen the light.”

Meaning: A true convert feels the same way as these words form the song Amazing Grace describes:

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me,
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now, I see.

The effect is different.
One is exalted and the other humbled.

Question: Can you please give a closing statement:

God’s answer:

True faith
Conversion is a grace. Man does not convert you. I do. Only I can move mountains.

Meaning: Only God can melt a hardened heart, if He so wills it.

Question: So God, if only you can convert and only you can choose who is to be converted and when, then why do we need to go and do so?

God’s answer:

Intermediary: It’s your job
You are living proof

Meaning: God gives two reasons why we should go and be fishers of men:

  1. Intermediary: It’s your job - God is referring to the very purpose why He created man – to bring the world closer to Him.

  2. You are living proof: You are a testimony to your faith. In its most simple form - In sharing with others your faith, your relationship with God, and how God has worked in you, your life and in others, you become a living proof of the real presence and grace of God/Jesus. As you progress towards holiness, you become the Christ– presence to the people you encounter. You bring Jesus to life. You are Heaven-sent - a living saint.

Question: Is my explanation of “You are living proof” correct?

God’s answer:

You are faith in action
